  • Nine killed, 50 injured in Baghdad attacks

    BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Nine people were killed and 50 were wounded Wednesday in three attacks in central Baghdad, Iraq's Interior Ministry officials said.

    The attacks occurred about the same time, the officials said.

    In one attack, a car bomb exploded outside the building of Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The other occurred outside the building of Ministry of Finance.

    In the third attack, two mortars were fired into the Green Zone, the heavily fortified area in Baghdad that houses the U.S. Embassy and many government ministries. The U.S. military has handed over control of the area to Iraqi forces
