Sensex rises 61 points in opening trade
MUMBAI: The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark index Sensex rose by 61 points in opening trade today on selective buying by funds as well as retail Investors in line with overnight gains in the US market.The 30-share BSE barometer gained 61.26 points at 15,096.52 in morning trade.The wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty advanced by 16.55 points to 4,475.45 points.Brokers said selective buying by foreign funds and retail investors in realty, metals and banking sectors helped Sensex post gains.Overnight gains in the US stock market also influenced the trading sentiments to some extent, they added.Among major gainers, BHEL rose by 1.01 per cent to Rs 2,265.90, DLF Ltd by 2.28 per cent at Rs 383.70, Sterlite Industries by 1.84 per cent at Rs 630, Hindalco by 1.36 per cent at Rs 107.80, HDFC Ltd by 1.55 per cent at Rs 2,357 and ACC by 1.04 per cent at Rs 805.30.The Hong Kong's Hang Seng index was up 0.09 per cent in the morning trade. The US Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 0.90 per cent yesterday.
